Oahu

Breathless

Pacific Weddings

May 5, 2010 dawned a glorious Hawaii day. Mark woke early to catch a morning surf session on the North Shore of Oahu with his good friend. To someone who had always loved the sea, it was the perfect way to work off the excitement and anticipation of his wedding day. He and Michelle had arrived two weeks earlier and were completely settled into the relaxed rhythms of island life.

Michelle arrived at the quaint Bayer Estate with her mother and her two bridesmaids, Katherine and Peta, to prepare for the sunset ceremony. Surrounded by the historic home’s gracious antiques and lovely old photos, the bride felt unhurried and completely at ease. It was a moment of a lifetime that felt perfectly natural to Michelle. Proprietor Sooz Mirikitani showed the ladies to the bridal suite where hair and makeup artists from Studio W waited to make them beautiful from head to toe.

Floral designer Debbie Hemingway decorated the intimate grounds in soft shades of blue with white silver dollars and starfish to signify the pair’s affinity for the ocean. She also created classic floral wristlets of white phalaeonopsis orchids for the bride and her bridesmaids.
