The natural beauty of Hana, Maui is undeniable, and the sense of warmth of those who call it home, palpable. Visitors to the remote tropical outpost feel like they have taken a step back in time, and that is just the feeling that Amy Rodrigues and Robert Nathaniel Soper wished to capture for their destination wedding. On a quest throughout the Hawaiian Islands for the ideal location, the peaceful, away-from-it-all life that Hana offers inspired the California couple, who selected Travaasa Hana (formerly known as Hotel Hana-Maui) on Maui’s eastern tip. Travaasa is a sublimely tranquil resort set amid rolling fields and palm trees above Kaihalulu Bay. “When we visited Hotel Hana-Maui, we instantly fell in love,” Amy says. “The secluded and peaceful nature of Hana, as well as the warmth of spirit and generosity of the people completely amazed us.” Amy and Rob’s far-flung celebration became a world unto itself—a joyful and intimate weekend gathering of friends and family hailing from all around the globe. “We designed the weekend around the feeling of ohana... the most important part of life,” Amy says referring to the Hawaiian word for family.
