We wanted to finish off our week of midcentury glamour with a few tabletop ideas that we styled for the pages of the Summer ’13 edition. Photographer Anna Kim captured the setting inspired by designer Jonathon Adlers’s midcentury vibe (think mod furnishings, colorful pattern play and cheery flowers).

The midcentury modern approach to architecture seamlessly marries indoor spaces to the outside, making it ideal in tropical climates and especially popular in the West Coast. While the beaches are a perpetual draw in the Hawaiian Islands, Hale Honu’s open-air cabana and glam pool offers private lounging and entertaining par excellence. The interiors are airy and spacious with rich hardwood floors and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that reflect the calming blue skies. Inviting year-round celebrations, the expansive lanai is met with linear reflecting pools, potted succulents and greenery.
