When we found out that Ariella Chezar was traveling to Maui, Hawaii to host a floral design workshop at Haiku Mill we had to get involved! When it comes to abundant floral still lives of the Dutch Masters, Ariella is one of the greats. Her three-day workshop touched on color, choosing the right flowers, and creating moody, bountiful arrangements and bridal bouquets. Photographer Ashley Camper was on hand to capture the beauty.

The style direction for the shoot was Old World Tropical inspired by Gauguin and Rousseau. Avoiding the common interpretation of tropicals, Ariella let the Pyrostegia Venustra guide the arrangements set in low vessels. "Pink and orange are great, but I'd like to pursue something a bit subtler, a bit more interesting. I really love how slate blue and grey and even soft periwinkle look with orange, coral and peach," says the designer.

A long table is set in periwinkle blue linens available at Signature Boutique Event Rentals. Centerpieces contain flowering branches, vines, ranunculus and heliconia. A bundle of bananas and citrus add a tropical punch.
